What is that smell? We are learning about our five senses: sight, touch, smell, hear, and taste. Rowan and Jaxon conducted an experiment that explored four out of the five senses. A baking soda and vinegar reaction is always fun! Especially when we get to mix colors.

An invitation to create our own faces was set up on the table for the children to explore. They were provided with loose parts to glue onto their papers. This helped them acquire facial recognition, while enhancing their fine motor skill; specifically focusing on their pincer grip.

We started off the school year learning all about ourselves! To explore the physical feelings of our body, we painted with different tools: hands, feet, and fingers were all a hit. The children were little detectives when they discovered their fingertips each contained a special map that is all their own.

The children take turns painting texture onto their papers. Different textures are being created by utilizing tools other than brushes. We turned our hands into bubble wands, and curated masterpieces with them! The children loved the final results, and would continue to ask for different colors to see if that could change their textures.

What happens when you ask our children the question: What tool would you like to paint with? Well, they are each going to have an individualized answer! For Rowan, hand painting may be the best. However, Liv loves to use a Q-tip. The children are becoming their own ‘person’, and are truly enjoying making their own choices.

“Row, row, row your boat…”

The children really enjoyed their gym time this week, and it helped to strengthen their gross motor skills. While in the gym we sing songs and practice our rhymes. Rowan is pushing the boat for Valerie and Milan, while teaching them his favorite song: “Row Row Row Your Boat”. At the same time, you can find Liam swinging around with a smile on his face!
