Dino Stamps in Room 3

This week the students in Room 3 used dinosaur stamps. They used brushes to paint yellow and green paint onto the stamps and then pressed them onto their papers. This activity helped improve fine motor and problem solving skills, as well as letting the kids color mixing.

A Colorful Ride in Room 3

Room 3 is pictured her painting with toy cars. They first dipped the car’s tires in multiple colors of paint, and then rolled it across their papers. The children found it interesting to see how the colors and markings changed throughout the activity. Using toys outside their intended usage is a good way to develop creative thinking. This project was also a great way to play with color mixing and to build fine and gross motor skills.

Giving Gifts with Room 3

Mother’s day is approaching soon and our classrooms are working on creating unique presents for the mothers. Gift giving is a great way to build empathy and teach kids to show kindness towards others. Room 3′s gift involves a handprint. They must first let their teacher paint their hands, and then press it to the plastic sheet without moving. This activity builds patience, as most kids must try a few times in order to get the perfect print.

Little Scientists

Pictured here is the students of Room 3 using Erlenmeyer flasks in the sensory tanks. Pouring water from one flask to another is great for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. The flasks also have measured markings so that the kids can count the milliliters and improve their understanding of numbers and scientific concepts.

Feeling Blue and Green!

Room 3 is pictured here using shaving cream mixed with water color to paint. Both blue and green water color were added to the shaving cream which allowed the kids to discover lots of new shades of colors. Some kids thought their paintings looked like certain objects while others just enjoyed mixing the colors and exploring different painting techniques. This activity developed fine motor skills, and encouraged creativity and imagination.
