Little Dreamers is called an Early Childhood Center, rather than a
Preschool, because the word "preschool" - meaning before school - does
not give proper credit to the learning that goes on in a quality early childhood
program. Our program is developmental by nature. It is based on the theory that
it is what we do with children before we present the "basics" of
formal education that creates success for them as they learn.
Children learn best through a concrete, play-oriented approach to education.
For a young child, learning something new is often the result of interaction
between their thoughts and experiences, and the surrounding environment. The
value of play cannot be overstated. It is through play that children develop
curiosity and imagination, learn to concentrate and make confident decisions.
Therefore, at Little Dreamers, we provide a developmentally
appropriate program, stressing child-initiated, child-directed, adult-supported
play in a safe and nurturing environment. Our curriculum offers a variety of
attractive, stimulating activities which promote physical, social, emotional,
creative and cognitive development. Activities are geared to the age
appropriateness of the group, as well as the individual needs of each child in
the group.
Sometimes a brief period of whispers. A quiet time. Relaxation.
A savoring within of good feelings. An involvement time when there is a very
special closeness between child and child, between teacher and child.
A love time. A child's time. A magic time.
Perhaps a story. Or quiet music. Or a gradual approach to rhythmic
activity and dancing, or crawling and jumping and growing like flowers or
blowing like the wind. Or we go outdoors to run, jump, balance, slide, swing
and feel the sun on our face. Time to grow. Time and room to explore, to
experiment and reason, to discover. Time to play. Time to be a child.
We feel that young children function best in a consistent program with small
group sizes and a familiar caregiver. Warm, positive relationships with adults
help children develop a sense of trust and feelings of worth.
Because a child's experience at LITTLE DREAMERS is a supplement to their home experience,
we feel very strongly that staff and families must work together in order to
provide for optimal child development. When we are all working toward
a common goal, the children's sense of security, self-confidence and individual
worth can't help but blossom.
We strive to provide the highest quality program possible for young children
and their families. The giving of careful attention to details by every member
of the staff, means that your child's well being is exceptionally looked after.
We welcome you to our program and hope that as a LITTLE DREAMERS
family, you will enjoy your experience with us, and remember it fondly for many,
many years.
