Painting With Our Feet!

The students pictured here are painting with their feet! First, they have to stretch their leg to get the bottom of their foot painted by the teacher. Then they jump, and dance and spin all over the cardboard and watch as their footprints appear. This activity is a great form of physical activity that improves large motor skills and is a fun creative outlet.

Pressing Painted Bubblewrap in Room 2

Pictured here are the children of Room 2 prepping the background of an “about me” page. To do this they painted bubblewrap with many vibrant colors and then proceeded to press the painted surface onto a piece of paper. To paint on the bubbles, the children had to apply the correct amount of pressure, which helped them to improve their fine motor skills. They also improved their understanding of color and color mixing through this activity.

We are taking advantage of this warm weather as much as possible by having all sorts of water play. Pictured here the children have the sensory tanks filled with different colored water along with various containers and tools. Playing with the colored water helps the children to explore color mixing. The different containers and tools also help the children to develop their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.

Slime in Room 5!

This week kicks off the start of our slime exploration at Little Dreamers. Room 5 started the week by watching their teacher make homemade slime. Doing this helps to introduce the students to new scientific concepts as they watch the individual components transform into slime. Playing with the slime is also a great form of sensory play.

Ice Hockey in Room 4

Last week wrapped up water and ice week at Little Dreamers. During this week the children learned about the properties of water and ice and used them in many different activities. One of the activities they did in Room 4 was play hockey with ice cubes covered in paint. They hit the ice around the rink and into little baskets using popsicle sticks. Besides helping the children to learn more about ice, the activity improved fine motor skills and coordination.

Mixing Watercolors in Room 7

They used bottles and various tools like pipettes and syringes to draw colored water from different tubs and mix it together. This activity improved their knowledge of colors and color mixing and also improved fine motor skills.
